On either side of the frame you will
find a slide stop that must be pulled
down to allow removal of the slide.
See fig 1
Making sure the weapon is not loaded
pull the trigger to decock the weapon
using you left hand as seen in fig 2.
Pull the slide slightly to the rear while
pulling down on the slide stop tabs
with your left thumb and forefinger.
While you have these pulled down

Fig 3

After removal of the slide the next step
is to remove the locking block pin and
the trigger housing pin. This is accomplished
by pushing out each pin from the left side
using your Glock Armorer's tool. A punch
of the correct size my be used if you do
not have an Armorer's tool. First remove
the top locking block pin, next remove the
the Trigger Housing pin. If you have any
resistance DO NOT force the pin out by
tapping on it. The slide release spring may
be sitting in one of the groves in the pin.
See Fig 4. Gently move the slide release
back and fourth while pressing on the pin.
If this does not work you will need to slightly
lift the spring out of the grove. Once this is
accomplished the pin should come out easily.
Fig 4

Now you are ready to put your new extended slide
release in. Before you slide the release in you must
replace the top pin which is the locking block pin.
After replacing the locking block pin slide the new
release in and replace the trigger housing pin. Put
the slide back on and you should be ready to go.
